Okay, real talk: my allergies are not normal.
Weāre talking full-body betrayal mode the second household dust, pollen, exotic fruits, or any animal gets within a five-foot radius of me. Cats? Pure murder. Like, I genuinely love them and they genuinely try to kill me. My immune system did not get the memo that we live in a world with fur and flowers and Iād like to participate in it.
Every summer, without fail, I wake up already losing. Groggy, congested, eyes itching before I even look at my phone, and then Iām popping antihistamines like theyāre a morning vitamin just to function. As a busy founder, thatās not a vibe. Foggy, medicated mornings are not the energy Iām trying to bring to Monday standups.
So when Nicole (incredible CFO, absolute powerhouse human) casually mentioned sheād used KPV to manage her symptoms? The bell went off. Loudly. š
Wait, What Even Is KPV?
KPV is a tripeptide (thatās just a tiny chain of three amino acids: lysine, proline, valine) thatās been getting attention in the peptide world for its anti-inflammatory properties. Itās studied for gut health, wound healing, and (hereās the part that got my attention) immune modulation. Basically, it may help calm down an overreactive immune response. Which, hi, is exactly what my body is doing every allergy season.
(As always: Iām not a doctor. This is my personal experience. Please, please chat with your MD before trying anything new, especially peptides.)
What I Did
I started at 250 mcg daily for the first week (kind of a āletās see how my body respondsā vibe) and then bumped up to 500 mcg daily for the remaining 7 weeks. The peptide world can be hype-heavy, and Iāve been burned before by things that sounded too good, so starting low felt like the right move.
But then came week one.
I was sorting through my closet (like, full chaos mode, shaking out clothes, refolding every dusty garment that had been sitting since winter). You know that moment where you brace for the sneezing spiral? I kept waiting for it.
It never came.
I didnāt sneeze. Once. I stood there in a cloud of closet dust like a person with functional sinuses and I almost cried.
Then I went to Egypt for two weeks (peak summer, full bloom, a completely different allergen environment) and still... nothing. No symptoms. No antihistamines. Just me, enjoying my vacation like a normal person who isnāt at war with the atmosphere.
Remainder of the KPV cycle I completed in the spring/early summer in Amsterdam.
I ran the cycle for 8 weeks total and Iām genuinely satisfied with the outcome. This isnāt a placebo vibe: I know what my baseline looks like, and this was categorically different. I went for two months (May and and June) without any allergy attack, not once my eyes got itchy, or I sneezed more than twice. This is revolutionary experince for me.
Nicoleās Experience with MCAS
I asked Nicole (CFO and Founder of PrismEdge to share her own journey with me She has Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, and her story is worth reading in her own words:
Six years ago, my MCAS got bad enough that I had to stop exercising completely.
MCAS stands for Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, a condition where mast cells (part of your immune system) overreact and dump histamine and inflammatory chemicals when they shouldnāt. Instead of responding only to real threats, they treat ordinary things like enemies. For people with MCAS, triggers can be almost anything: exercise, hormones, food, medications, a bad night of sleep, someoneās perfume, smoke in the air.
Iāve had it my whole life. Mine got worse over the years until my triggers were basically everywhere. For a long stretch, managing it just meant arranging my life around the list of things I couldnāt be near.
MCAS is rare and barely researched. But what I read about how KPV works made it worth trying for my particular challenges.
I tried it in capsules first. They did nothing.
So I switched to a daily subcutaneous shot at 500 mcg. That was over a year ago and Iāve stayed on it since. Most protocols cycle it on and off. I use it daily. Iāve been running TA1 alongside it too, but thatās a separate post.
My baseline is steadier now. I still get triggered, it just takes more to get me there than it used to. And Iām back to exercising: a few minutes of basic yoga every day. After six years, that means more than it sounds.
Itās slow. You rebuild a few minutes at a time and let your body catch up. Some weeks all you do is hold your ground. KPV is what got me here.
A year in, I can do more than Iāve been able to in years. Iām staying on KPV and building from there.
Bottom Line
I came into this as a skeptic who was just tired of surviving summers on antihistamines. Iām leaving as someone genuinely curious about what KPV can do longer-term, and already planning my next cycle before allergy season hits again.
If youāre an allergy sufferer whoās tried everything, this might be worth a conversation with your doctor. Emphasis on conversation: donāt just order peptides and wing it. But also... donāt sleep on this.
More updates to come. š
